SPECIFICATION

  PORTABLE ACID INJECTION SYSTEM

1. General

    

   Provide one (1) skid mounted portable acid injection system. System shall consist of controller, chemical metering pump with pulsation damper, chemical storage tank with secondary spill containment, corporation stop and nozzle assembly, valves and appurtenances, and a 110 VAC. 60 Hz, single phase power supply and power distribution system, complete. Provide manufacturer’s recommended spare parts with system.

    

2. Submittals

    

   The Contractor shall submit six copies of the following to the Board of Water Supply for approval. Acid injection system shall not be ordered prior to receiving approval for the system.

   Manufacturer literature and shop drawings describing the acid injection system including pump, valves, controller, tanks and appurtenances. Shop drawing shall include system wiring diagrams.

   Layout drawings for the arrangement of the acid injection skid.

   System construction drawings including electrical and piping arrangements.

3. Controller

    

   The controller shall control a chemical metering pump. The control system shall accept two process variable inputs, pH and flow, and compute the amount of acid necessary to neutralize the pH of the backwash water. The neutralized backwash water shall have a pH between 6 and 8, as specified in the NPDES permit. Analog signal inputs shall be 4-20 mA current regulated into 0 to 600 ohms. Power supply shall be 110 VAC, 60 Hz single phase. Controller shall be mounted in a weatherproof NEMA-4 box that allows the controller to be read without opening the box. The controller output shall be compatible with the system pump. pH controller shall be ProMinent Dulcometer Dialog/1 or equal.
