COMBINED pH & FLOW SIGNALS CONTROL ONE PUMP

INTRODUCTION

We frequently receive portions of bid specifications from customers, asking if we can pull together a quotation for them so that they can respond to the bid. These specifications are occasionally a bit mixed up. For example, the spec might call for the features of two or three different styles of chemical pump, when those features are mutually exclusive. Sometimes the spec is drawn from a very old engineering archive, a "boiler plate" piece that’s been used for twenty or thirty years. We take those specs and try to update them to today’s technology, specifying equipment that answers the intent of the job as economically as possible. And, in all fairness, some of the specifications are current and very logically thought out, which makes our job much easier. It can’t be easy to be an engineer when you’re expected to be an expert in so many diverse fields – we try to help smooth out some of the edges so that the equipment specified works well together.

This particular bid specification seemed to be a good example for posting. It’s a bit long, at fifteen to twenty pages, but it follows the logic of a system through from beginning to end. The intent of the specification is actually written pretty clearly. In this case, we’ve updated and refined the technology, while lowering the overall price of the package. We’ll put examples like this up periodically for different applications, so that you can understand some of our capabilities and stay up to date yourself.
